
Dave Somers opposes fully contained communities that will require new development to pay for itself. The result is a heavier tax burden for existing taxpayers.
Fully Contained Communities shift the tax burden from existing property owners to developers who are required to pay for costly news schools and transportation infrastructure in new, high density developments.
The official Snohomish County Planning Department bulletin states:
“A (fully contained) community must include the infrastructure (roads, utilities, services, etc.) to completely support the development as well as mitigate for any impacts to the surrounding neighborhood, public services, environment, and transportation systems”
“The regulations specify that the development must pay for improvements and impacts associated with the community”
